There is a piece of aquatic art located by the pier downhill from the Split restaurant – a ferry – which is shaped as a whale and thus fits the atmosphere of this place and also fits the tradition of ferrying to the other side of the river Ohre. The plastic whale‘s movement on the river is controlled by hand using a parallel cable stretched alongside a weight bearing cable that’s anchored into a rock on the opposite shore.
