The footbridge leading to the dam is a very important place on the riverfront promenade, since it provides transition from the riverfront into an open landscape in the direction of the city of Klasterec nad Ohri. This place is important because the riverfront ends here while the rest of the river Ohre’s original shores are flooded by the waters of the “Kadansky stupen” (Kadan reservoir). It is also important because of the pronounced land configuration between the river shores and the dam. Adding the significant element of the slanted ramp into this environment is not without some pitfalls and it did require a sensible approach in order to enhance the overall appearance of this area instead diminishing it. The only sufficient solution to this aesthetic problem is a footbridge allowing for both pedestrians and cyclists to overcome the elevation difference between the crest of the dam and the riverfront promenade, without the need to use the steep and uncomfortable staircase alongside the dam.
